About the Teacher:
William was born and raised in the Amish community of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he developed a deep appreciation for the craft of basket weaving. He has been weaving baskets since the 1980s, refining his skill over decades.
He dyes and stains all of his own reed using a mix of commercial dyes and natural materials like nut hulls, coffee, and tea, giving him full control over color and finish. While rooted in tradition, William’s use of bright, vivid colors brings a contemporary edge to his work, setting his baskets apart.
